Dokolo Journalists Unite to Combat Poverty Through Advocacy Program

‎In recent years, poverty has become a pressing issue in many communities, including Dokolo.

‎Despite efforts from the government and NGOs, poverty still remains a major concern for many residents in this region.

‎In light of this, the Dokolo Journalist Development Association has taken a bold step towards poverty eradication by launching an advocacy program.

‎This program has not only caught the attention of the local community, but also that of an MP aspirant, Ogwal Joseph Jones.

‎At a recent gathering with the association, Ogwal Jones commended the journalists for their efforts in advocating for poverty eradication in Dokolo.

‎He urged them to continue using their professional skills and platforms to champion wealth creation in their community.

‎”As the key communicators of information, journalists have a crucial role to play in raising awareness and inspiring action towards social and economic development” he said.

‎Moreover, Ogwal emphasized on the importance of benchmarking with other regions to allow Dokolo journalists to gain valuable insights and ideas on how to effectively tackle poverty in their community.

‎By learning from other successful poverty eradication initiatives, Dokolo journalists can come up with innovative and sustainable strategies to uplift the lives of their fellow citizens.

‎The MP aspirant also praised the Dokolo Journalist Development Association for their dedication and commitment to transforming the community.

‎He promised to support the association’s endeavors by providing them with a poultry project and jerseys for sports activities.

‎In response, the association, led by Stephen Opio Ongora, expressed their gratitude for Ogwal’s support.

‎They also urged him to continue to remember the association if elected as the Member of Parliament for Dokolo North county in the upcoming election.

‎Founded in 2020 with 28 members, the Dokolo Journalist Development Association has made significant strides in advocating for social and economic transformation in both their profession and the larger community.

‎This partnership between journalists and leaders is a crucial step towards achieving a poverty-free Dokolo.
