The Dokolo District Electoral Commission returning officer Moses Otim has officially announced that a total of 15 individuals have been nominated for the upcoming parliamentary elections of 2026-2031.
According to Otim, the nominated candidates for the Dokolo North Constituency include Ogwal Joseph Jones from the NRM party, Alfred Junior Okello from the People’s Front Party, Ogwal Moses Goli as an Independent candidate with the Chair logo, Ojok Francis from UPC, Acen Josephine Atia as an Independent candidate with the Borehole logo, and Ebyeru Geoffrey from the NUP party.
Meanwhile, for the Dokolo South Constituency, the nominated candidates are Felix Okot Ogong from NRM, Vincent Opito from UPC, and Engwau Julius from the Democratic Party.
Otim has also revealed the list of candidates nominated for the Woman Member of Parliament seats, including Anna Okwir as an Independent candidate with the Ball logo, Ruth Frances Atala as an Independent candidate with the House logo, Anna Grace Lalam from FDC, Adongo Jenet Rose Elau from NRM, Aguti Shara Nyangkori from UPC, and Akullo Gloria from DP.
The candidates who were nominated have shared their reasons for running for various parliamentary positions.
Alfred Junior Okello from the People’s Front Party stated that his nomination is a blessing for the people of Dokolo North as he will be their voice in parliament.
Anna Okwir, an independent woman MP aspirant, believes that she is the most suitable candidate to represent the women of Dokolo in parliament, with a focus on serving the people rather than seeking personal gain.
Engwau Julius from the Democratic Party emphasized his commitment to creating job opportunities for the youth and improving the Dokolo-Amolatar highway.
He also promised to provide motorcycles to those in need if elected. Ogwal Moses Goli, the incumbent and NRM candidate, expressed confidence in retaining his seat and preventing the opposition from winning in Dokolo North.
Opito said he knows very well that young people, older people, disabilities, car washers , mobile business owners, produce dealers, etc have different problems that needs to be solved in different ways and once they are grouped , its easy to handle them one by one according to the problems.
Opito emphasized that the most suffered community in Dokolo South are from the sub counties of Adeknino, Okwongodul and Kwera respectively saying hippopotamus comes from the lake and destroys crops but Dokolo South Member of Parliament has never say anything about it in parliament yet people from Oyam who are affected of the same are being compensated.
Sarah Aguti, the woman MP for Dokolo district also explained how her being in parliament within the short time has impacted the community of Dokolo and uganda at large.
