UPC’s Godfrey Okwany, a candidate for the councilor position in Adeknino Sub County to Dokolo district council, has expressed his concerns regarding the neglect of over 70 households in Bata highland, a small area in Awelo parish, Adeknino Sub county, by the current leaders.
He believes that it is unacceptable for these taxpayers to be abandoned and left without access to basic necessities such as electricity, good roads, and clean water.
”This lack of infrastructure has forced them to depend on water transportation for inter-parish movement, which greatly affects their daily lives” Okwany said.
Being passionate about development and progress, Okwany has taken it upon himself to bring attention to the plight of these households and advocate for their needs.
He firmly believes that every citizen, regardless of their location, should have access to basic services and amenities.
“After all, the people of Adeknino, with their five parishes, play a significant role in the development of Dokolo district through their tax contributions” he noted.
Jimmy Okullo, a produce dealer told our reporter that people of Bata highland in Adeknino Sub county produces agricultural products but access to good Markets still remains a problem due to the road cutoff.
He explained that it’s the only village in Dokolo that uses improper water transport means for inter parish movement, calling for government intervention.
In his efforts to bring about positive change, Okwany has identified crucial roads in the area that are in dire need of attention, such as the Acogogwen-Awelo and Apewotneki roads.
”These roads have a low standard density of 98%, making them unsafe and unreliable for daily use” he explained.
As the parliamentary campaign continues, Okwany stresses the importance of voting based on a leader’s vision and determination to bring positive change to the community, rather than monetary reasons.
He firmly believes that the development of Adeknino and Dokolo district can only be achieved if visionary leaders, like himself, are elected.
In the race for the Adeknino sub county council, Okwany will be competing against Jaspher Olara of the NRM.
