Dokolo district has recently welcomed a new group of leaders, who have promised to work together regardless of their political affiliations.

‎‎In a recent event that saw the installation of Okarowok me Agum clan leader (Awitong) Moses Ogwang in Obene village, Adok parish, Adok sub county, the newly elected Dokolo district chairperson, Peter Ogwang, also known as Ogwang Petero, shared his vision for the district.

‎‎One of the key areas that Ogwang Petero highlighted was the need to prioritize the fight against poverty and the development of the education department. ‎‎

He recognized that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and committed to bringing development in this sector.‎‎

Joining him was Joseph Jones Ogwal, the newly elected Dokolo North MP. ‎‎Ogwal emphasized the need to improve access to electricity in the district by engaging Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL). ‎‎

He believes that this will bring about positive changes in the district, especially in terms of economic growth and development.‎‎

In addition to education and electricity, Ogwal also expressed his plans to bring about changes in road construction and support for business women in the district.

He believes that by grouping them together, they will have access to resources and financial support, allowing them to contribute to the district’s economic growth.‎‎

Similarly, Vincent Opito, the newly elected Dokolo South MP, echoed the same sentiments of working together as a community for the betterment of the district. ‎‎

He stressed the importance of putting aside political differences and focusing on the common goal of developing the district.‎‎

Another leader, Tony Eron, who was recently elected to represent Kwania county in the 12th parliament, urged the Lango community to give the newly elected leaders ample time to work. ‎‎

He reminded them that most of the newly elected leaders are young, driven individuals who are eager to work for the development of the community.

‎‎The Lango paramount chief, Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune, expressed his gratitude towards these new leaders and blessed them for their vision towards community development.‎‎

He encouraged parents to support the education sector by ensuring that their children attend school and have access to all the necessary resources.‎
