DOKOLO – The Dokolo District Police Commander SP Patience Baganzi has cautioned leaders against fueling conflicts within communities, saying peace and unity are critical for development.
SP Patience Baganzi issued the warning recently during a local government leaders’ workshop at the district main hall.
She accused some leaders of sponsoring individuals to cause conflicts within communities.
Baganzi rather advised leaders to focus on promoting development. She said conflict management and peace building are key to development and urged both technocrats and leaders at different levels to join hands in the fight against conflicts, which hamper development.
Resident District Commissioner Dokolo, Barbra Akech, reiterated that conflict management and peace building are key to development.

She urged participants to embrace peace and unity while avoiding negative talk.
Akech also tasked leaders to champion transparency and fight corruption in government programs such as the Parish Development Model and restocking, among others.
A facilitator from the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, John Oyambi, re-echoed that leaders should embrace love, unity, and teamwork while avoiding conflicts.

Senior Presidential Advisor Bakalikwira, who also addressed the workshop, challenged leaders to prioritize national interest over politics.

He urged them to focus on fighting poverty and corruption and on promoting democracy.
He further urged leaders to clearly differentiate their political roles from those of technocrats.
