DOKOLO – Dokolo District has announced that six of its students have been verified to join public universities through the district quarter system.

As Uganda prepares to admit 876 students through the Public Join Admission Board for the academic year of 2026, Dokolo District is proud to have six deserving students who have met the criteria for this opportunity.
Peter Ogwang, the District LCV Chairperson, confirmed that the verification exercise covered six students — two females and four males — who were admitted by the Ministry of Education and Sports to benefit from the scheme.
Ogwang said the students on the verified list under District Executive Committee (DEC) Minutes Number 05/7/2026 are all residents of Dokolo who sat their A-Level in schools within the district.
The six students admitted are: Prisca Apok to – Mbarara University,Cesar Omara to– Makerere University, Gloria Auma to – Kyambogo University, Haron Ogwang to – Makerere University, Solomon Agwech to – Lira University and Samson Kiseka Olot to – Makerere University.
Ogwang advise parents to encourage their children to study in schools within Dokolo District in order to benefit from the District Quota Scheme.
Patrick Okai, the Acting District Education Officer for Dokolo, said government launched the District Quota Scheme in the 2005/2006 academic year. This is the 20th year Dokolo District has benefited from the program to place students in various public universities.
Okai noted that a total of 876 students countrywide will be admitted through the Public Universities Joint Admissions Board, PUJAB, for the 2026 academic year, with Dokolo securing six slots.
He added that Dokolo District still has opportunities for 20 more students who will be admitted under the bursary scheme offered by Kampala International University, KIU, and other universities.
The District Quota System was introduced to ensure equitable access to public universities by giving each district representation, with priority given to best-performing UACE students who studied in the district.
District leaders say the admissions are expected to ease the financial burden on parents and increase the number of professionals from Dokolo in different fields.
