UN EnvoyUN Envoy Praises Gen KainerugabaUN Envoy

The United Nations is an organization that works towards promoting peace, development, and cooperation among nations.

In Uganda, the outgoing United Nations Resident Coordinator, Her Excellency Susan Ngongi Namondo, has been a key figure in strengthening the relationship between the country and the UN.

Today, she paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as she concludes her duties in Uganda before moving to Tanzania in the same role.

During her visit to the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe, Her Excellency Namondo expressed her appreciation for the strong working relationship between Uganda and the United Nations.

She specifically thanked the Chief of Defence Forces for his pivotal role in enhancing these relations.

Her Excellency Namondo has been in Uganda since 2021 and has made a significant impact in her role as the United Nations Resident Coordinator.

Speaking to Gen Kainerugaba, she highlighted Uganda’s commendable role as an anchor of peace in the region and its consistent efforts in promoting regional stability.

Gen Kainerugaba, on the other hand, thanked Her Excellency Namondo for her service and efforts to strengthen relations with the UN body through policies that align with Uganda’s national interests.

He also congratulated her, noting that during her tenure, Uganda’s UN team had exceeded global standards on the Gender Equality Scorecard.

This is a milestone for the country and a testament to Namondo’s leadership and dedication to promoting gender equality.

Furthermore, Her Excellency Namondo expressed her appreciation to the Chief of Defence Forces for his unwavering support to her and the broader UN family during her tenure.

Her Excellency highlighted the critical importance of this alignment and coordination between the two parties, emphasizing that it is essential in achieving sustainable development goals.

As Her Excellency Namondo concludes her duties in Uganda, the country bids farewell to a remarkable leader who has played a crucial role in promoting peace, development, and cooperation between Uganda and the United Nations.

Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, and she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shape the relationship between the two parties.
