DOKOLO – As the financial year comes to a close, Dokolo District LC5 Chairperson Peter Ogwang, also known as Ogwang Petero, has ordered the full deployment of all remaining district funds across sectors before the end of the current financial year.
Ogwang issued a directive that no money will be returned to the central government pool.
He instructed that all available resources must be allocated across departments before the close of the financial year.
Speaking to our reporter in his office, Ogwang said his assessment since taking office shows critical gaps in service delivery, particularly in the health sector.
“In my few weeks in office I have realized that the health sector is doing badly in Dokolo compared to other sectors,” Ogwang stated. “Most of our health centers are operating with inadequate drugs that cannot last a month, yet the population has gone high. We cannot sit on funds while our people are suffering.”
To enforce the directive, Ogwang ordered the Chief Administrative Officer, Grandfield Oryono Omonda, and all heads of department to immediately allocate available resources to priority areas within their sectors.
Chief Administrative Officer Grandfield Oryono Omonda confirmed that the district is issuing official notices to contractors whose work has been deemed shoddy or uncompleted.
He said contractors are being directed to complete work with immediate effect.
“My office is officially notifying these contractors in writing. Whoever fails to abide by the terms of their work will be terminated officially,” Oryono said, adding that this is part of the district’s accountability to both citizens and government funds.
District leadership says the directive aims to ensure funds meant for service delivery are felt on the ground before the financial year closes.
