DOKOLO – Erin Omiat, the National Women’s Leader at Yahweh Pentecostal Mission in Uganda, has rallied learners to befriend people of good calibre and desist from bad company.
She made the call while joining the weekly students’ mentorship programme at Dokolo Progressive Senior Secondary School. The weekly programme is part of an initiative by the Platform for Community Empowerment in the fight against bad acts in schools.
Omiat explained how befriending bad people has led to the death of many people as written in the Bible.
According to her, setting a goal drives a student towards a better future.
”If a child is a gift and a seed, it’s good advice that protects the gift and uses the seeds when they are matured,” she explained, meaning children should not engage in sexual acts when they are still young.
Francis Osika, a teacher and CEO of Platform for Community Empowerment, said learners of today are new persons going to get something new on earth.
Quoting the book of Proverbs Chapter 22:4 and Matthew Chapter 1:18, Omiat asked learners to live a better life.
