‎
‎The Won Nyaci of Lango, HRH Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune, is set to visit the Lango community in the United Kingdom for his first official foreign tour since his enthronement, in a visit aimed at driving investment and unity among the Lango diaspora.

‎During his visit, HRH Eng. Dr. Odongo Okune aims to mobilize the Lango community and the broader Ugandan diaspora to invest back home. He will also focus on cultural advancement and the promotion of Lango heritage.

‎The Won Nyaci is expected to emphasize unity, cultural preservation, and shared values as the anchor for the Lango people and Ugandans at large. He will urge the diaspora to remain connected to their roots, pass down traditions to younger generations born in the UK, and leverage available opportunities for development, education, and investment in the Lango sub-region.

‎Furthermore, he will encourage the UK diaspora to establish local business partnerships in Lango to ensure effective management, create jobs for educated but unemployed youth, secure scholarship and bursary opportunities for students at all levels, and drive agro-industrialization across Lango and Uganda.

‎Addressing the media at the Lango Cultural Center, the Speaker of the Council of Clan Leaders (Won Tok), Willy Omodo Omodo, revealed that the HRH Eng Dr Michael Moses Odongo Okune will also participate in Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations on October 9 at the Ugandan Embassy in the UK, where he will address embassy officials and attendees.

‎According to Omodo Omodo, the Won Nyaci will additionally use the tour to rally the UK diaspora for his upcoming coronation anniversary on November 2 at the Mayor’s Garden in Lira City.

‎Preparatory fundraising activities for the anniversary are already underway, including the Won Nyaci Marathon on October 24 and a health camp organized in partnership with Lira Regional Referral Hospital.
