Senior Presidential Advisor Bakalikwira Mobilizes Dokolo Leaders to Prioritize National Interest Over Politics

DOKOLO – Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Duties, Jonah Jackson Bakalikwira, has mobilized leaders in Dokolo District to promote the interest of the state irrespective of political affiliations.

‎Bakalikwira made the call on Thursday at Dokolo District Council Hall during the Civic Education Awareness Training on Civic Duties, Responsibilities, National Interest, Vision, Values, and Common Goods for local leaders in Dokolo District organized by the Office of the Resident District Commissioner Akech Babra following communication from the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, targeting Heads of Department, District Councilors, LCIII Chairpersons, and GISOs.

‎He challenged leaders to foster national interest in fighting poverty and corruption, and in promoting democracy.

‎John Oyambi, a facilitator from the Ministry of Information and Community Technology and National Guidance, trained newly elected leaders and civil servants.

‎He tasked leaders to be aware of their cardinal roles, which include being responsible, effective, active, and knowledgeable.

‎He also urged the leaders to differentiate their roles from those of technocrats.

‎Barbra Akech, the Resident District Commissioner of Dokolo, tasked leaders to champion transparency and fight corruption in government programs such as PDM and Restocking, among others.

‎Rev. Sam Omiat, thanked the ministry for the opportunity and asked local leaders to transfer the knowledge attained to the wanainchi.

‎Rev. Capt. Julius Otuke, the Archdeacon of Dokolo Urban Archdeaconry, called for a community mindset shift in fighting corruption and poverty.

‎Hon. Rose Akello Erem, former LC3 Chairperson of Dokolo Town Council, asked government to consider sensitizing the community on each and every government program before the release of guidelines.

‎She said most government programs have guidelines that do not favor many political leaders.

‎Grandfield Omonda, the Chief Administrative Officer of Dokolo, emphasized that leaders should give accountability and services to the community effectively.
