‎‎‘Witchcraft Scaring Pupils and Teachers’: Awerowot Primary School in Dokolo Holds Emergency Meeting

DOKOLO – Authorities of Awerowot Primary School in Agwiciri Parish, Agwata Sub County, Dokolo District have decried witchcraft practices they say are scaring both teachers and learners.

‎Speaking on Tuesday during an emergency meeting at the school, Denish Ssebwa, the Head Teacher of Awero-wot Primary, confirmed that teachers and learners, especially in the boarding section, are scared due to rampant witchcraft disturbing them.

‎He said they also expelled one 15-year-old male candidate in relation to witchcraft, suspecting his parents as the major cause of the boy being possessed with a witchcraft spirit to disturb teachers and learners in the boarding section at night.

‎Ssebwa added that the suspended candidate will only be allowed to attend lessons while operating from home after sorting out the issue.

‎Lidya Akello, the Chairperson of the School Management Committee, said it is true that pupils in the boarding section and teachers are complaining of witchcraft affecting their welfare at night.

‎Magrete Auma, the Officer in Charge of Agwata Police Station, cautioned people against witchcraft practices and urged all community members to turn up in large numbers for prayers that will be conducted on Saturday this week to resolve the matter.
