UPDF Retires 14 Generals, 604 Senior Officers

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) to retire 14 General officers, 604 senior officers and me.

The ministry of Defense/UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso said in a statement that the retirement ceremony for the Generals will be held at State House Entebbe.

Other other retirees will be at their respective service headquarters, formations and units.

Byekwaso adds that the Ministry of Defense and Veteran affairs recognizes their commitment, selfless and dedication to offering security service to the country at a time when many shun joining the liberation struggle in favor of maintaining the status quo.

“Because of their service, the country’s history has been over turned across all spectrum, from an almost total shutdown to a now robust and sound economy with guaranteed peace and stability in the entire country”, Byekwaso said.

Among those who are set to be retired on Thursday are; Gen Ivan Koreta, Lt Gen Pecos Onesmus Kuteesa, Lt Gen Jim Beesigye Owoyesigire, Maj Gen Christopher Kazoora, Murema, Maj Gen Moses Wadimba Ssentongo, Maj Gen Robert Rusoke and Maj Gen Fred Mugisha.

Others are Maj Gen Innocent George Oula, Brig Gen Moses Kigongo, Brig Gen Jacob Asiimwe, Brig Gen Moses Shaban Lukyamuzi, Brig Gen Muhammed Abiriga, Brig Gen John Araali Kasaija and Brig Gen Frank Kanyarutokye.

She added “the UPDF congratulates the retirees for successfully completing their active duty in the force”.
