Lango cultural foundation joins Teso in mourning Emorimor

The paramount Chief of Lango Yosam Odur Ebii has described the death of Emorimor Papa Osuban Augustine Lemukol as untimely and a big loss to cultural institutions in Uganda.

 

The Emorimor (88) died on Saturday 5th February 2022 at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he had been hospitalized.

 

Lango’s paramount chief in a message delivered by the Prime Minister of Lango Cultural Foundation Eng. James Robert Ajal said the Emorimor was a peace promoter and participated in the conflict resolutions between Lango Cultural Foundation and Tekwaro Lango led by Eng Dr. Moses Micheal Odongo Okune.

 

He urged Teso people to remain united during this trying moment and pledged to stand in solidarity with them during and after the send-off of their cultural leader.

 

Meanwhile, according to the program released by the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Amongi Ongom, there will be a requiem mass for the deceased at Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine Namugongo on February 15, 2022 at 10am followed by a vigil at his home in Entebbe at 6pm.

 

 

On Wednesday, February 16, 2022, the body will depart for Tororo where there will be another Mass and paying of last respects at 11am.

 

 

 

At 2pm, the body will then be taken to Soroti where a vigil mass will be held at Madera Catholic Parish at 6pm.

 

 

 

On Thursday, February 17, 2022, there will be paying of last respects by Teso cultural leaders at Soroti Sports Ground and ecumenical prayers at 10am. At 4pm, the body will depart for Serere District where there will be mass at Olio Catholic Parish at 7pm.

 

 

 

On Friday, February 18, 2022, more prayers and paying of last respects by district leaders from Teso region will be held at Serere district headquarters at 10am and then at 7pm, there will be mass and vigil and the deceased’s home in Serere.

 

 

 

Burial will be held on Saturday at his ancestral home in Serere district.
