You can’t stop me from performing own songs: Nina to Andre

By Mathias Mwanga

Kampala – Apart from being one of the best music producers in Uganda, Andrew Ojambo a.k.a Daddy Andre caught media attention unfortunately in a negative way basically due to his alleged extreme desire for sex from any female gender that comes his way.

After his love affair with fellow singer Angella Katatumba hit a snug, the “Tugende Mu Church” hit maker consoled himself by making things official with another musician Nina Kankunda alias Nina Roz. Andre visited Nina’s parent’s home in a traditional ceremony known as “kukyala” in October 2020.

After the ceremony, the couple started staying together as Adam and Eve with high expectations of bedroom results. However, their marriage didn’t even last for half a year as the two parted ways due to undisclosed issues.

Recently, Andre issued an intention to sue letter to Nina over termination of work contract.

In the letter dated May 24, 2022, Andre through GM Kibirige and Co. Advocates reveals that in November 2021, Nina Roz terminated a 5-year contract signed on 8th June 2020.

It further reveals that she signed another contract with another management and started performing songs owned by Andre “without remitting the required sum” to him.

Nina was ordered to stop performing the mentioned songs namely Nagana, Andele, Billboard and Enyota and to pay a sum of Shs120m (Shs30m for each song) to Andre, and Shs12m as the legal fees.

However, while publicly responding to the law suit on Saturday, the “Billboard” hit Maker stated that no one has a right to stop her from performing her own songs which she took time to compose.

“No one can stop me from performing the songs I took time to create apart from God. Actually, musicians don’t own the songs, they belong to the fans,” said Nina before performing the same songs on a show organized by a local TV station in Kampala on Saturday.
