NRM vows to retain Omoro Parliamentary Seat

Omoro -The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has vowed to rally electorate of Omoro Country behind their candidate in the forthcoming by-election to ensure they retain the seat.

This,  after Andrew Ojok, son to late former speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya was officially unveiled as the NRM candidate for the by-election which is slated for 26th May 2022.

According to Emmanuel Dombo NRM’s Director of Communications, Ojok  will officially be nominated on Friday 13th May 2022 as the party candidate for Omoro County.

The Omoro District LC5 Chairman, Okello Peter Douglas, over the weekend convened a caucus in Lalogi Sub county with some of the top party secretariat members to draw strategies on how the party will canvas support for its flag bearer ahead of the election.

The team was led by Richard Twodong, NRM Secretary General, Rosemary Seninde, the Party’s director for Mobilization, Emmanuel Dombo, Director communications and Hajjat Medina Naham, the Director for Finance and Administration among others.

Seninde said the secretariat are in Omoro to ensure late Oulanyah’s son wins the parliamentary seat.

“The party is ready and we have mobilized well for the successful nomination of our candidate” Seninde said.

She described Ojok as a brilliant leader who will serve the people of Omoro diligently once elected.

Other people who are vying for the seat include Erick Lajul, Independent, Stalwart Siomon Tolit of National Unity Platform (NUP) and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Denis Owani among others.

The Electoral Commission will conduct nominations of candidates to run for the seat between 12th and 13th May 2022.

The seat fell vacant following the death of former speaker of Parliament Oulanyah who was the area Member of Parliament in March this year.
