Uganda Land Owners Association to hold first ever land use expo

Kampala-The Uganda Land Owners Association (ULOA) is set to hold a trade expo dubbed, ‘The Land Use Expo 2022’

The two-day-event will be held between 31st of August and 1st of September 2022 at UMA showground, Lugogo.

Speaking during the launch of the expo in Kampala on Tuesday, James Galabuzi Mukasa, the ULOA Executive Chairman said that the specific objectives of the expo are:

i. To mobilize Land Owners and Tenants in Uganda to fast track their land use and usage rate for socio-economic transformation with the support of government and other stakeholders

ii. To provide a networking platform for Land owners and Tenants holders and stakeholders to share information, learning and promote unity and interdependency and to generate workable solutions for the persistent land conflicts with an effort to boosting economic growth and development in Uganda.

iii. To engage in an inclusive conversation with land owners, tenants, land users and other stakeholders on the viability and applicability of the proposed opportunities, agenda, programs , strategic actions and models presented before them by the different organizations as solutions to the land conflicts and land use and development.

iv. To avail the different goods and services made on and or produced from the Land for public knowledge, support and consumption and therefore generate demand.

v. To agree on collaborative and partnership modalities for the implementation of viable land conflict resolution and land use/ development interventions.

Galabuzi highlights topics to be discussed as land utilization for development, income generation from land, rights of land Owners and tenants, women and youth in land utilization for economic inclusion and land conflicts and security.

He notes that more than 20.000 landowners and tenants from all over the country are expected to attend the national Land Use conference and Expo. He adds that at least 300 Exhibitors are being mobilized for this purpose.
