Amb Amoru meets URA officials on bench-marking tour with SA Revenue Services

Pretoria-Amb. Paul Amoru, Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa on Tuesday morning met a High Level Delegation from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) led by John Musinguzi Rujoki, Commissioner General.

Others were Abel Kagumire – Commissioner Customs, Sarah Chelengati – Commissioner Domestic Taxes and Robert Mutebi – Commissioner IT & Innovation.

The delegation is on a bench-marking tour with South Africa Revenue Services to learn best practices in the mobilization of revenue for National Development.

South Africa’s revenue collection is highly automated/efficient and its Tax-to-GDP ratio is over 26% compared to Uganda’s 13%.

Earlier, Rujoki attended the Annual Commissioner General’s meeting in Capetown.

He appreciated Missions abroad for their roles in mobilizing investments and enhancing remittances from the Diaspora.

The Ambassador thanked the team for a job well done as reflected by the continuous growth in net revenue collections, especially after the adverse effects of COVID-19.
