Amolatar journalist held over defilement

Amolatar – A radio journalist with Amolatar-based Hot FM is in police custody on defilement allegations.

The suspect Alphonse Odur alias Fege-Hege (30) a resident of Amolatar B cell in Amolatar district is alleged to have defiled a 16-year-old student of Amolatar Secondary School.

It’s reported that on the 25th of December 2022 during the night hours, the suspect picked up the victim from her home and had sexual intercourse with her. Again, during this Easter period, the same suspect allegedly sneaked into the school and picked the girl intending to have sex with her but was in the process caught red-handed by some students and he escaped.

The matter reached the school administration who interviewed the victim and she confirmed having sexual intercourse with Odur several times.

The victim was immediately suspended from school and on reaching home, her parents got concerned. After the victim opened up, her father reported the matter to the police station in Amolatar and a case of defilement was registered.

According to Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga region police station, statements were recorded from the victim and her father and the scene visited.

“The victim was examined on PF3A, and the suspect was arrested and detained at CPS Amolatar where further investigation is ongoing,” says Okema.

He notes that once the file is complete, it will be forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and legal advice before presenting the suspect to court.

The Penal Code Act defines defilement as having sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 18. The maximum punishment is death.
