Kampala-Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has declined to relieve the Kira Municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda of his position as Whip for Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) in Parliament.
This, after some MPs petitioned Parliament asking to halt the changes, accusing the party Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi of taking the decision without consulting the Party’s National Executive Committee.
Speaker Among has asked the FDC Secretary General to provide evidence of the meeting he held with the party MPs agreeing to sack Ssemujju Nganda as their whip.
She also asked the FDC Party leadership to address the issues raised in the petition, saying the failure to do so would affect harmony, cohesion and operations at Parliament.
Last week, the FDC in a letter signed by Nandala dismissed Semujju from the party whip position in parliament.
Ssemujju was replaced with Yusuf Nsibambi, the Member of Parliament representing Mowakota County South Constituency.
