Land Wrangle Erupts In Kalaki, Leaves Over 100 People Homeless

Kalaki. A land wrangle has erupted between members of Elwa Tok and Erarak Edolu clans in Arongo village, Kibimo parish, Bululu Sub County in Kalaki district leaving more than 100 people homeless and atleast two people injured.

It is reported that Elwa-Tok clan is claiming ownership of an un-estimated piece of land from members of Erarak-Edolu clan and they are gradually evicting people from the said land. This has met resistance from the latter sparking insecurity in the area.

People’s property including houses and trees are also reported destroyed as a result.

Mrs. Susan Akot the Kalaki deputy resident district commissioner visited the scene and condemned the incident.

Akot told this website that the situation is now calm following security intervention. She explained that security is currently hunting for the culprits involved in the act whom she says will be arrested and charged accordingly.

‘‘One person was beaten and a six month old child was dumped in the bush helpless. We have arrested two people although others are still at large.” Akot said.

Security has been beefed up in the area on orders of the RDC to calm down the escalating insecurity situation.

Mr. Raymond Emunyu the LCIII of Bululu Sub County says they have called a security meeting with members of the two clans which will sit this Thursday to harmonize the situation.

Mr. Solomon Oyugi, the village chairperson of Arongo was not available by press time but reports say he was hiding and scared following threats from the rival clan. END
