Government Health Center Roof Blown Off Leaving the Situation Desperate

DOKOLO. The roof of Kangai Health Center III in Kangai Town Council Dokolo district has been blown off by strong winds.

Mr. Daniel Okwany Kizza the Sub County Chairperson of Kangai says the rainfall accompanied by hailstorms on Sunday blew off the roof of some wards, stores and has greatly affected health services at the facility.

‘‘Its true last night the heavy rainfall blew off the OPD department and blew off the store for Antiretroviral drugs leaving the drugs affected by moisture’’, Okwany added.

Okwany adds that management of the facility now plans to write to the District Disaster Management Committee seeking emergency support to renovate the roof.

 According to Okwany, the administrators of the facility have opted to shift Out Patient Department under the trees and tents.

James Apili Otoo the District Chairperson of Dokolo, told this website they will write to the office of the Prime Minister notifying them of the disaster in the District.

‘‘The rainstorm blew off Kangai HC3 roof and Apewotneki primary school roof in Adeknino Primary School. As a District we will write to the Prime Minister’s office and the Education Ministry to allow them to procure iron sheets to renovate the structures’’, Otoo said.

Mr Benard Ocen Eyia a resident of Abongo-Rwot Cell, Angwenya Ward, Kangai Town Council appealed to the District administration to speed up the renovation process.

Kangai Health Centre 3 registers about 200 patients per day. END
