Youth in Lango cautioned against cohabitation

By Jaspher Ouni

Dokolo – Youth in Lango have been warned against cohabitation a practice that is being blamed for causing conflicts in the sub region.

Peter Okoda the Dokolo and Amolatar county clan chief of Okii Ogwangkoltum sounded the warning on Thursday while meeting his clan members in Amwoma sub county, Dokolo district.

In Lango, when a woman who has been cohabiting or her child die, her clan is entitled to blood compensation by the husband’s clan which often leads to conflicts between the two clans.

Okoda says to avoid this, the youth should shun cohabitation by formalising marriages.

Meanwhile, Okoda urged parents to prioritize education of their children and shun consumption of alcohol to be able to save enough money for school fees.

Augustine Omara the in charge education in the clan remarked that youths are the strongest group of people that clans must invest in if they are to progress.
