Uganda High Commission in Pretoria to recognize outstanding Ugandans in Southern Africa

South Africa – The Uganda High Commission in Pretoria has announced the inaugural Diaspora High Achievers Awards, a prestigious recognition that celebrates the outstanding contributions of selected Ugandans to the cause of Uganda.

According to Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa Amb. Paul Amoru, these awards will be presented to individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary excellence in their respective fields and have made a profound impact on the advancement of Uganda. “This platform will serve as a means to highlight the remarkable success stories of our diaspora community and inspire others to reach greater heights,” said Amb. Amoru in a statement on Sunday.

To ensure a fair and unbiased selection process, the Mission has established an independent committee comprising eminent individuals with impeccable character. The Awards Committee will be responsible for implementing the nomination and selection mechanisms to identify the most deserving candidates. Their expertise and integrity will ensure that this recognition maintains the highest standards of credibility and transparency.

“On behalf of the Uganda High Commission in Pretoria, I extend a warm invitation to partners from the corporate world, industries, and agencies to join hands with us in supporting this noble initiative. Your involvement will not only help transform this vision into a tangible reality but also provide a platform for Ugandan achievers to be acknowledged on a national and international level,” said the High Commissioner.

“I firmly believe that the Diaspora High Achievers Awards will serve as a catalyst for further progress and collaboration within our community. Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous Uganda, leveraging the tremendous talent and expertise of our diaspora,” he added.

Uganda High Commission in Pretoria serves South Africa and six other countries including Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and Eswatin.

An estimated one million Ugandans reside in these southern African countries.

In a bid to enhance unity among Ugandans in Southern Africa, the Uganda High Commission in Pretoria together with the Confederation of Ugandans in Southern Africa (COUSA) organized the first-ever Convention of the Ugandan Diaspora in Southern Africa over the weekend.
