UNRA suspends ferry services on Masindi Port

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) on Thursday announced that it had temporarily suspended ferry services along the Masindi Port—Kungu route following an emergency occurrence to the vessel’s ramp hooks.

“Users of the Masindi Port Ferry which connects Kiryandongo and Apac districts through Masindi Port-Kungu Ferry route are informed that our ferry services at this crossing have been interrupted due to technical glitch which is currently being managed by our technical team,” UNRA said.

“We are doing our best to have the challenge resolved in the shortest possible time and the public will be notified when our ferry services are restored.”

The Masindi port ferry master Bogere Charles Alex says the ferry operation is expected to resume by 19th July 2021.

Passengers were advised to use the alternative route by road through Masindi Port Junction-Kamdini-Apac District or Masindi Port Junction_Nakasongola-MV Kyoga Ferry-Amolatar-Lira-Apac District.
