Dokolo district offers 200 acres of land to Gov’t to establish an industrial park

Dokolo district local government has offered 200 acres of land to the government for the establishment of an industrial park.

The land which is located at Koroto Northern Ward in Dokolo town council was given to the ministry of trade, industries and cooperatives and Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).

On Tuesday, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the three government entities in a closed door meeting held at the district.

The chief administrative officer Dokolo Isa Mbooge confirmed that the district entered into an agreement to offer 200 acres of land for the said purpose.

Mbooge says the development will go a long way in creating jobs for the people of Dokolo district and beyond.

Dokolo district has about 400 acres of land in Koroto and Mbooge said 50 acres have also been given to Koroto government prison.

The LC V chairman of Dokolo district James Apili Oto tasked the government to ensure that the development is delivered to help locals who are majorly farmers to also get some income from it.

News of the development has also excited locals in the area including chairperson LC I of Arudabiru cell who said it will help young people to earn livelihood by directly offering labor and supplying raw materials.

The director for industrial park development at Uganda investment authority Hamza Galiwango said government plans to establish industrial parks in the districts of Dokolo, Oyam and Lira due to the availability of land.

He projects that the industry is expected to offer employment opportunities to over ten thousand youths in Lango sub-region.
