Kaberamaido-Four boreholes have been commissioned in four subcounties of Kaberamaido district to help address the challenge of clean water shortage in the district.

The boreholes were constructed by Lodio Charity Foundation at a cost of 25 million shillings each in the subcounties of Aperkira, Kaberamaido, Alwa and Kobulubulu.

Speaking at the hand over ceremony of the boreholes, Joseph Galandi the Lodio Charity Foundation Country Director says they sought to extend the project to Kaberamaido after they discovered the challenges the residents especially women went through in search for clean water.

“Many mothers have been trekking long distances in search for clean water while others have lost their lives to crocodiles while fetching water from nearby lakes.” Said Galandi

James Etetu, the chairperson Ogodai village in Aboltok Parish, Kobulubulu Sub County appreciated the support noting that his people have been passing through many difficulties to access clean water.

Denis Ekoju the former speaker of Aperkira Sub County encouraged the beneficiaries to use the borehole properly and not to tag it to politics since it’s meant to benefit the whole community.

Over 10 boreholes are to be drilled in Kaberamaido district under the project implemented by Lodoi Charity foundation according to Joseph Galandi the foundation Country Director.
