Bobi Wine criticizes politicians for fueling hatred among Ugandans

Gulu. The National Unity Platform (NUP) President, Robert Kyalgulanyi aka Bobi Wine has criticized a section of politicians for fueling hatred among Ugandans.

The former presidential candidate said on Sunday that several politicians in the country are taking advantage of the demise of former Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah to create hatred, especially between the Acholi and Buganda. “Also paid a courtesy call on His Grace Archbishop Odama of Gulu Archdiocese. Very grateful to Dr Olara Otunnu for coordinating the visit, hosting us at his lovely home and for the wise guidance. With unifying and patriotic leaders, we can still dare to dream of a United Uganda,” he tweeted.

He explained that it is unrealistic for politicians to promote disunity instead of fighting for a common goal and promoting good governance in the country. The NUP President was addressing hundreds of congregants at Holy Rosary Church in Gulu City’s weekly Sunday mass.

Bobi Wine was accompanied by Dr Olara Otunnu, of the Uganda People`s Congress Party, Rev. Fr. Charles Onen, the Member of Parliament for Gulu East Constituency, Former Member of Parliament for Gulu Municipality Lyandro Komakech, and NUP Northern Regional President Lina Zadriga among others. Otunnu said “Some leaders mis-spoke that NUP now cannot cross Karuma to come this side (you’re persona non grata in Acholi). This is un Acholi and un Ugandan. There is no question of drawing a red line for NUP. That is nonsense and we can’t accept that. Acholi land is for all.

During the mass, Charles Onen, Gulu City West Member of Parliament, demanded that Bobi Wine apologizes to the Acholi community over the utterance and demonstration by a section of NUP party members and Buganda over the treatment of the Late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah in the USA.
