Amolatar

A nursing assistant has been recommended for transfer by locals over alleged misconduct and theft of government drugs.

Gertrude Amodo was working at Awonangiro health center II in Agikdak sub-county, Amolatar district.

This was after a local resident identified as Jacob Oryekot 14, testified that he was given government labelled drugs by Gertrude Amodo to take to a person by the names Patrick Okello.

Oryekot when interrogated said Amodo gave her the drugs to take to Patrick Okello for ‘sale’.

The medicines included six packets of Artemether Lumefantriners commonly known as Coartem, six packs of gloves, one packet of face mask and eight malaria test kits among others.

The nurse was on Thursday this week handed over to police at Acengryeny police station for further investigations.

Locals are also accusing another health worker Brush Ogwang over alcoholism.

They say Ogwang has always been playing cards with the idle members of the public against the standard operating procedures of mitigating the spread of coronavirus.

The LC V chairman of Amolatar district Geoffrey Ocen asked the chief administrative officer to suspend the two health workers.

The district health officer Dr Simon Aliga said at one time, Gertrude Amodo was interdicted from Etam health center III over misconduct.

Aliga says he will ensure Amodo is transferred from Awonangiro health center II in the public interest.
