Five suspected criminals who are alledged to be behind waylaying and robbing truck drivers on Soroti Lira highway have been arrested by Police in Dokolo district.
The suspects were arrested during an operation conducted on Tuesday night by police from Adwoki police post.
Among those arrested are; Otii Alex, Omara Ronald, Odwongo Moses, Opio Geoffrey and Ebong Denis. They are all residents of Adwoki trading center in Agwata sub-county, Dokolo District.
The community liaison officer of Dokolo Central Police station who doubles as the acting OC station Onek-Giu Roman has confirmed the arrest.
Onek Giu the suspects have been robbing truck drivers along the highway especially when the drivers are approaching humps to steal things like beans, Irish Potatoes, cement, onions among others.
A theft case has been opened against the suspects at Adwoki police post under CRR 40/2021 as investigations continue.
