New ambassadors visit Uganda’s investment areas 

Kampala -The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken out newly appointed ambassodors on a guided tour to industrial and business hubs around the country.

 

The tour according to the ministry, will help them appreciate Uganda’s enabling environment ahead of their deployment to the country’s Missions abroad.

 

According to the conference brief  to the new ambassodors which LBS Newsday accessed a copy, the tour will be crowned with a stationary workshop to be held at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi from 14th -18th March 2022.

 

“The conference will expose and ideologically align Uganda’s Ambassadors towards the Country’s Industrial and Economic initiatives as a means to achieving social economic transformation.” The brief indicates

 

 

 

The conference, the ministry notes will also position the Heads of Missions to the government priorities, establish an effective framework on promoting and protecting Uganda’s image abroad, offer guidance on proper planning and management of Missions with emphasis on NDP III.

 

“The new ambassadors will also be oriented and equipped with appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them effectively and efficiently execute their duties and responsibilities.” The conference brief reads in part.

 

All ambassadors, it adds, will be expected to fully understand Uganda’s potential as a basis for effective promotion of the national interests abroad.

 

The new ambassadors started their guided tour on Wednesday from the Kampala industrial and Business Park, Namanve.

 

They are also expected to visit Sugar Cooperation of Uganda Ltd (SCOUL), Kiira EV Motor Corporation in Jinja, Mbale Industrial Park, Soroti Fruit Factory, Pela- Agro Processing Factory (Soroti) and Mt. Meru Millers.

 

The other industries/initiatives to be visited are Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba, Hoima Oil Fields and Kabaale International Airport, Kawumu Presidential Demonstration Farm and Kapeeka Industrial Park.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes in the brief that on top of the guided tour, the new envoys will receive presentations on the key strategic areas of investment, trade, tourism, technological transfer, peace and security among others, from key transformational agencies such as National Planning Authority, Ministries of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Defense and Veteran Affairs, Trade Industry and Cooperatives in addition to presentations on Diplomatic work.

 

The ambassodors were appointed by President Museveni in December last year and vetted by parliament’s appointments committee early last month.
