Serere- The parents of the fallen Serere County Member of Parliament, Patrick Okabe say they have lost a son who has been their sole provider and support to the family.
Rev. Mesulam and his wife Lucy Abilet say that their son has been the source of their livelihoods who provided everything they needed as parents when he was still alive. According to Rev. Abilet, 87, Okabe was a very caring child whose death has left them devastated.
Rev. Abilet, the retired Priest from the Anglican Church of Uganda – Soroti Diocese, however, notes that they are strong and able to bear the news of their son’s demise because of Christ, the Lord they serve whom they believe knows all about their lives.
His wife, Lucy Abilet and the mother to MP Okabe says her son was one of the most disciplined children who cared for them (parents). She says that Okabe always spared time to meet them amidst his busy schedules and inquire about their health and other concerns in the family.
Mrs. Abilet, whom social media had earlier announced dead in the day after the demise of her son says she is strong in spirit and will live according to God’s plans for her life.
Okabe, also founder of Impact Ministries where he has been Bishop died with his wife, Christine Okabe in a motor accident on Monday morning along Mbale- Tirinyi road.
He was serving his second term as Member of Parliament for Serere County as an NRM- leaning MP after losing the party flag to Phillip Oucor during party primaries. He is survived by five children; three boys and two girls, some of whom are living outside the country. Okabe is the 3rd born in a family of 16 children from one mother.
Okabe comes from Oburin Village in Olio Sub County of Serere district.
