Kampala -The Inspector General of Police has promoted 9,312 subordinate officers with effect from June 1, 2023.
According to Polly Namaye the police deputy spokesperson, the promotions were based on a number of requirements including seniority, record of work, acting position, examporary performance such as in operations and executing given tasks as well as discipline record.
The promoted officers include 1,145 Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) to Inspector of Police(IP), five Head Constable Major (HCM) to Inspector (IP) and three Head Constable (HC) to Head Constable Major (HCM).
The others are 28 Station Sergeant to Head Constable, 1,531 Sergeant (Sgt) to AIP, 2,644 Corporal (Cpl) to Sergeant and 3,956 Police Constable to Corporal.
“We congratulate the officers and their families upon this well deserved occasion of their promotion,” said Namaye
The Force has encouraged them and other officers to continue serving the public diligently.
