A bomb has on Friday morning exploded in Otuke district injuring a 15-year-old boy.

The incident occurred in Alidu cell, Barodugu ward in Otuke town council.

The injured were identified as Felix Odong a male juvenile of 15 years who was ploughing a garden with his father Abor Milton and mother Atim Lydia.

It is reported that the ox plough brought up an object which looked like a bomb and as the victim was attempting to throw it away, it exploded shuttering his right-hand palm and a tree that was nearby was also destroyed.

The North Kyoga regional police spokesman Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the incident to LBS Radio saying the victim was rushed to Orum health center IV where the hand was dressed before he was referred to Lira Regional Referral hospital for surgery.

Okema said the bomb particles were picked by area the GISO and taken to Otuke central police station.

“We would like to discourage members of the public from picking such items once identified instead they should notify authorities”, he warned.
