Kaberamido traffic police on the spotlight for issuing ‘fake’ penalty receipt

Traffic police in Kaberamido district are on the spotlight for allegedly issuing ‘fake’ receipts to motorists.

On Tuesday, the chairperson of Ochero town council boda-boda association William Ewayo alleged that an officer called Kyomuhangi Millia (64914) arrested their colleague Patrick Ogwal on the offense of riding a motorcycle without a riding license.

Ogwal was detained while his motorcycle registration number UFA 676S was impounded.

After he was informed, Ewayo alleged that they were given a ‘fake’ receipt without an account number for Uganda Revenue Authority and they were instead advised to pay cash to the officers.

On Wednesday, the police professional standard unit went to the area to investigate complaints of extortion after a section of boda-boda riders and locals petitioned the East Kyoga regional police headquarters.

The officer in charge of Ochero police station Alex Okuu station told LBS in an interview that the receipt was wrongly printed due to a network problem.
