Two Lango MPs Surrender SHS 200M Vehicle Money to Constituents

By LBS Editorial
Two Members of Parliament from Lango have committed UGX 200 million vehicles allowances given by the Parliament of Uganda towards community programs.
Last week, Parliament wired to each lawmaker UGX 200 million to purchase a brand new sports utility vehicle (SUV) to allow them to carry out their legislative duties efficiently and effectively.
However, two legislators from Lango sub-region have donated the money to their constituents.
Kyoga North county MP James Olobo alias Olobo Dubai has instead used the money to buy a four-tone tipper lorry and 3000 plastic chairs for his constituency.
Olobo Dubai says he bought the tipper lorry at UGX 130 million and purchased plastic chairs at shs 70 million for his people.
“I have dedicated the tipper lorry to the community to help in transporting building materials for schools, hospitals, churches, road construction materials among others,” Olobo said.
About the chairs, Olobo guided that the chairs will be put at a central location for members of the community to access and utilize in case of public gatherings, funerals, and marriage ceremonies among others.
Meanwhile, Kole North constituency Member of Parliament Dr. Samuel Opio Acuti has reportedly opted to use the money to procure three constituency ambulances to help in the referrals of patients.

It is reported that Opio Acuti has opted to make an additional top-up of UGX 160 million to make a total of UGX 360 million needed to buy three ambulances each at UGX 120 million.
The three Ambulances will be stationed in three sub-counties of Okwerodot, Alito, and Aboke for transporting sick people.
We could not independently confirm this development from the legislator after he failed to answer our repeated phone calls.
