Members of Parliament from Lango under their umbrella association of Lango Parliamentary Group will Tuesday conduct a joint inspection together with the officials from Ministry of Works and UNRA to ascertain complaints of  missing important design which has since stalled the road upgrading works.

The issue of the stalled works first came out in July after Maruzi County North legislator Nelson Okello raised before Parliament that the contractors were demobilizing equipment’s from the site but the Prime Minister Rt Hon Robinah Nabanja assured the Country that government was fully committed to ensuring that the road is completed as scheduled.

The new chairperson of Lango Parliamentary Group also Kole District Woman Member of Parliament Judith Alyek confirmed to  Lango Broadcasting Service (LBS) Radio Monday evening that she will lead a team of MPs from Lango to conduct a joint inspection to ascertain why the works have  since stalled.

She says they want to understand why UNRA went ahead and handed over the site to the contractors to commence works and even invite President Museveni to flag off  the construction with full knowledge that all the required designs were not yet summitted and ratified.

According to Alyek, they will begin the inspection from Rwenkunye and move through up to Puranga and later convene a meeting to discuss their findings and draw action points which will be handed over to Ministry of works for their immediate intervention.

The inspection follows a complaint lodged to Ministry of Works by Members of Parliamentary from the sub region.

Government awarded the contract to upgrade the 191 Km road to two companies, Sadeem Al-Kuwait General Trading and contracting company and Gulsan Insaat Sanayai Turizm Nakliyat .

In October 2020, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni flanked by different dignitaries flagged off the upgrading of the road which will cost UGX 753 Billion.
