District Engineer, Three Others Arrested Over Alleged Theft

KABERAMAIDO – Police in Kaberamaido district have arrested three people including the District Engineer on allegations of stealing fuel meant for construction of a Six Kilometre road in the district.

The culprits were booked at Kaberamaido CPS under SD ref 25/15/11/2021 and are charged with theft.

Police have identified them as Mr. Joseph Elenyu, Mr. Joseph Angwal and Mr. Denis Oryekot.

Mr Francis Ewayu was later released on police bond after he was summoned to record a statement.

Kaberamaido District Local Government is currently grading a six kilometre road stretching from Katingi trading center to Ominai Primary school all in Ongolangor Parish, Alwa Sub County at a tune of shillings 31 million.

Trouble for the suspects started after residents of the area raised concerns after spotting the suspects with four full drums of fuel meant for the construction being sold to one Mr Patrick Ajaku a business man in Kaberamaido.

The deputy OC CID Samuel Oluka in an interview with this website said the suspects will be arraigned before courts of law once investigation into the matter is completed.

Mr. James Ojiji the speaker of Kaberamaido district condemned the act of theft by the suspects saying most of the roads remain in sorrowful state in Kaberamaido because of negligence from some leaders.

The secretary Works and technical services who doubles as the district councilor for Alwa Sub County Mr Denis Olongo pledged to follow the matter. END
