Mubende – Four people have been confirmed dead and eighteen others injured in an accident that happened at Madudu junction along Mubende- Kakumiro high way on Wednesday evening.
According to Racheal Kawala the Wamala region police spokesperson, the accident which happened at 10pm involved a vehicle UAY 196 fuso white in colour that was carrying market vendors.
“The motorvehicle that was overloaded with market vendors and their luggage, lost control, overturned and rammed into a building killing 4 people and injuring 18.” Says Kawala adding the 3 died on spot while another died at Mubende hospital.
She identifies the deceased as one Nakibuka, a female adult, Katushabe Yasinta, a female aged 45, one Harriet, a female adult and a one Ssembatya a male adult.
The injured are Mubulizi kelebu, Ssemakula Alice, Kasibante Emmanuel, Wasswa kenneth, Zziwa Ronald, Ssenegeya poisiano, Jonathan, Maale Richard, Bale Francis and Kasumba vincent.
The others are Kalijira Nakyanzi, Safina, Nampijja Grace, Nfitikiza Habibu, Steven Nzeimana, Lukwago Willy, Nangozi Realty and Musanagowoza Supecioza.
Kawala says the victims were rushed to Mubende hospital for medical attention and bodies of the deceased taken to Mubende hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
She notes that the driver of the ill-fated vehicle is on run but efforts to have him arrested are on. Kawala warns drivers against overloading since it comes with several risks.
