Kampala-The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has flagged off the “Africa Peace Back campaign” in Uganda.

According to Amb Per Stafsen, the IAWP president, the campaign is the organization’s soul initiative for a call to action to promote peace in Africa and to support the United Nations and the international community in making world peace achievable.

The campaign started from Nigeria on December 25th 2021, Sierra Leon on 24th February 2022, Togo on 15th March 2022 all in West Africa. It later spread to South Africa on 12th April 2022 and now in East Africa beginning from Uganda.

“We will move around Africa, first on regional basis and thereafter other countries within the continent will witness our presence.”  Revealed Amb Stafsen in a speech read for him by Amb Dr Emmanuel Nkweke, the World Peace spokesperson during the launch of the campaign in Kampala on Sunday.

He added, “Peace is priceless and can only be achieved if we understand ourselves and work together in one spirit.”

Dr Samuel Ben Owusu, the UN Eminent Peace Ambassador to Ghana, urged African leaders to make youth development in peace a major priority. His advice is based on the fact that the youth are the bridge to a stronger and sustainable future for the Nations.

Speaking at the event, Dr Owusu encouraged the nations to propel their attention into strengthening the youth and to push for the beacon of hope for all in a peaceful manner.

Speaking after his appointment as Uganda’s appointment, Amb Dr Banjagala pledged to work hand in hand with the government of Uganda to promote peace in the country.

He blamed unemployment among the youth and poverty as key drivers to instability in Africa. Over fourteen Peace Ambassadors from ten different nations were present to grace the important occasion
