M7 congratulates Ruto upon election as Kenya’s president, reassures him of partnership

Kampala-President Yoweri Museveni has congratulated William Ruto upon his election as Kenya’s 5th president.

Ruto, was on Monday declared winner of the presidential election in Kenya after garnering 50.5 per cent of the vote, while former prime minister and veteran opposition leader, Raila Odinga, got 48.8 per cent with all the votes counted.

On Tuesday, President Museveni who enjoys good relationship with Ruto reassured him of Uganda’s commitment to continued partnership with Kenya in advancing regional and continental agenda.

In July last year, president Yoweri Museveni was joined by Ruto, the current vice president of Kenya to officiate at the ground breaking ceremony for a multibillion biological drugs and mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility at Matugga in Wakiso district.

Below is Museveni’s full congratulatory message to Ruto

On behalf of all Ugandans, I congratulate Your Excellency William Ruto upon your election as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya.

Further to my telephone call last night upon your victory, I wish to reassure you of Uganda’s commitment to continue partnering with Kenya in advancing regional and continental agenda through the East African Community, African Union and other multilateral platforms.

Our bilateral cooperation will score tremendous achievements and I look forward to working more closely with you. God bless Kenya. God bless East Africa.
