Indian national hacks fuel station manager over witchcraft

Kampala – Police at Wandegeya have arrested an Indian national for attempted murder at Total petrol station in Makerere Kikoni, Kawempe Division on Monday.

The suspect identified as 40-year-old Patel Samir Kumar Arvind Bhai allegedly strangled and cut Michael Ssebowa, a manager at the petrol station.

Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson says Ssebowa sustained a deep cut on the left side of his neck and is receiving treatment at Hammar Medical Services in Makerere Kavule.

“Bhai, a resident of Lugogo By Pass in Nakawa Division, is the manager of HJ Oils Uganda Limited and has been detained pending further investigations,” said Owoyesigyire in a brief statement on Monday.

According to Bhai, he attacked the victim due to suspicions of witchcraft, though the pair had reportedly had a difficult relationship in the past.

Owoyesigyire says a knife was recovered at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
