The body of a 14-year-old who was killed by a crocodile in Okile landing site in Lake Kyoga, Kaberamaido district has been recovered.

On Sunday 4th July 2021, residents of Asana village in Okile sub-county, Kaberamaido district launched a search in Okile landing site after getting information that Simon Okello was dragged into the water when he went fishing.

The LC 1 of Asana village Mr. Ekadu Robert said the body was discovered on a floating island on Wednesday 7th July 2021at Lake Kyoga.

On Tuesday, the communication officer for Uganda wildlife Authority Hangi Bashir warned that the public should be vigilant when they enter water bodies to avoid the re-occurrence of such incidents.

The statement was also emphasized by the LC III chairman of Okile sub-county Mr. Isaac Engwau who warned the public especially minors to desist from visiting the landing sites to avoid risking their lives to crocodiles.
