The District Education Officer (DEO) of Dokolo Rev. Bosco Bwonyao has died.

Recently, Bwonyo tested positive for coronavirus and has been undergoing home-based care.

The District Information Officer Dokolo Musafiri Suwed confirmed to LBS Radio that Bwonyo on Sunday morning at around 3:00 am started feeling difficulty in breathing and was rushed to Lira regional referral hospital for management.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Musafiri said that he was tested with the rapid diagnostic test whose result turned negative for covid-19 although his blood pressure suddenly rose up. He was also diabetic.

Bwonyo lost the battle at about 5:00 am Sunday.

Musafiri says the death of Bwonyo is regrettable.

“Bwonyo was the very essence of compassion. He was a symbol of selfless humanity”, Musafiri says.

Previously, Bwonyo tutored at Loro Core primary teachers college, Lira district local government as acting district education officer.

He later crossed to the then Lira municipal council as municipal education officer before joining Dokolo district local government in 2018 as the district education officer.

He was also a reverend at Faith Mission Lira

The overseer of Faith Mission Rev. Martin Ogwal described the late Bwonyo as a progressive, committed and dedicated servant of God.

The LC V of Amolatar district local government Geoffrey Ocen says Bwonyo was a kind man who served diligently with humility but was very passionate about service delivery.
