Five Held in Oyam for vandalizing electricity line

Police in Kamdini town council in Oyam district have arrested five people over vandalism of electricity power lines.

The suspects were on Friday arrested by police following a report that they are behind vandalizing an electricity transmission line which transmits power from Karuma to Lira sub-station.

The North Kyoga regional police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the arrest of the five suspects.

The suspects are Dan Acuma, Namaja Caroline, Richard Ogwang, Zaidi Talisuna and Okwonga Denis.

Okema says the suspects were arrested to help police to investigate the matter.

Recently, police in Lira also arrested four people on allegations of vandalizing electricity power lines.

It is still not clear whether the vandalized lines are sold as scrap or for any other purpose.
