No Money to Construct Amolatar District Headquarters

Amolatar-Construction work of Amolatar District Headquarters has stalled due to a lack of funds.

In 2006, President Museveni pledged 2 Billion Shillings towards the construction of the administration block. However, almost a decade later, only 200 Million Shillings was given to the district.

The construction of the two-storied building was then commissioned in 2020 and the contract was awarded to Bigon Enterprise Limited who started the foundation of the building at 192 Million Shillings.

Construction has since stalled and the contractor has abandoned the site.

Daniel Ekilu, the Chief Administrative Officer Amolatar District says the construction stalled due to lack of money.

Geoffrey Ocen, the Amolatar LCV Chairperson said they are struggling with office space and added that the construction of the headquarters was not allocated funds in this financial year.

Ocen is hopeful that when the presidential pledge is fulfilled, the construction will commence.

During her visit to the district, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja advised the district officials to write to her office for a follow-up.

Amolatar District was formed in 2005 when it was carved out of Lira District.
