Kassanda. Police are investigating murder by shooting of a 36-year-old gold dealer in Biwalwe LC1, Bukuya town council, Kassanda district.
The deceased has been identified as Erias Magala alias Mangele a resident of Lugingi village, Kijuna Sub County in Kassanda district.
According to Racheal Kawala, the Wamala region police spokesperson, the incident occurred on Thursday evening at about 6:00pm in Biwalwe LC1.
“Preliminary findings show the deceased Erias Magala was coming from the gold processing area of a one Musa Mubiru where he has been working as gold buyer, at Kanyogoga village heading to his home in Lugingi village while driving his vehicle registration number UBF 575Q premio new model.” Says Kawala
She adds, “When he reached in the swamp along Kanyogoga – Bukuya road, he met unknown assailants that shot him dead.”
Kawala says police were informed and immediately responded to the scene where they recovered exhibits of cartridge casings that will be submitted for further analysis.
She says the body of the deceased has been taken to Mityana hospital mortuary for postmortem as the hunt for the suspects is underway.
