Revealed: Why Kusasira’s Easter concert was cancelled

Kampala– Police have come out to explain why it had musician Catherine Kusasira’s concert and two other shows that were scheduled for Easter cancelled.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, organizers of the three affected events didn’t coordinate with the police and so were told to cancel them.

“Three events within Kampala Metropolitan South were all cancelled because the organizers didn’t measure up to the security guidelines that were issued by the IGP and they were risking or about to risk the lives of whoever was going to attend.” Said Owoyesigyire during the weekly security press briefing at police headquarters in Nagulu on Tuesday

He said for the case of Catherine Kusasira’s event, not even the local police or the DPC was informed about it.

Owoyesigyire’s remarks follow an outburst by the golden band singer who accused police of stopping her show under unclear circumstances.

In a viral video on social media, Kusasira claims that over 2,000 revellers who had turned for the show at Palms park -Ndejje Kanaaba on Easter Monday rioted demanding to refund their money hence destroying and stealing properties at the venue.

She demanded that the police refund the revellers and compensate the stolen and destroyed property.
